We trace leaks on copper, plastic and old imperial pipework, repair or replace the failed section, and check the surrounding joints while we're there — a pipe that has failed once has usually been stressed along its length. Where a leak is behind plaster or under a floor, we lift and reinstate as neatly as possible and tell you honestly what will need making good afterwards. For frozen or burst pipes in winter we can also lag exposed runs to stop it happening again next cold snap. ### Taps, mixers and showers Dripping taps are usually a washer, cartridge or ceramic disc — cheap and quick if caught early. Where a tap is beyond economic repair, or where you simply want a better one, we supply and fit new taps and mixers, always with new flexible tails and new isolation valves so the next service is a two-minute job rather than a full drain-down. On showers we deal with poor flow, temperature swings, failed thermostatic cartridges and leaking shower valves — and we'll tell you honestly whether the problem is the valve or the water pressure feeding it. ### Toilets, cisterns and waste Running toilets, weak flushes, leaking pans and slow-filling cisterns are among the most common calls we get. We replace flush valves, fill valves, syphons, cistern seals and pan connectors, refit loose or rocking pans, and clear and re-seal traps and waste runs. On concealed and wall-hung frames we can get to the working parts without wrecking the tiling — that's a job worth having someone experienced do. ### Stopcocks, isolation valves and outside taps Every home should have a stopcock that actually turns and isolation valves at the appliances that matter. We replace seized stopcocks, fit lever isolation valves under sinks, basins, WCs and at the boiler, and install outside taps with the correct double-check valve and a proper internal isolator so the tap can be drained down before winter. ### Low pressure and poor flow Poor flow has a handful of usual suspects: a partially closed stopcock, a blocked aerator or filter, a failing pressure-reducing valve, furred-up old galvanised pipework, or an undersized supply. We measure static and dynamic pressure and flow rate rather than guessing, then tell you which of those it is. Where the answer is that the mains simply can't deliver what a large house needs, the honest fix is usually an unvented cylinder or an accumulator — and we'll say so rather than selling you a re-pipe that won't help. ### Cylinders, tanks, immersions and softeners We service, repair and replace hot water cylinders (vented and unvented), cold-water storage tanks, ballvalves, immersion heaters and thermostats. Unvented cylinder work is carried out under our G3 qualification and should be serviced annually — the expansion vessel, the pressure-reducing valve and the temperature and pressure relief valve are all safety-critical. No. There's no call-out fee for plumbing work. You're told the price of the job before we start, and if the fault turns out to be bigger than it first appeared we stop and call you before spending anything more. How quickly can you come out to a leak? For genuine emergencies — a burst pipe, an uncontrollable leak, no water — call the mobile on 07870 210610. We run a 24/7 emergency line and aim to be with local customers within around an hour. Non-urgent plumbing is usually booked within a few working days. How do I turn my water off in an emergency? Find your internal stopcock — most commonly under the kitchen sink, in a downstairs cloakroom, or near where the mains enters the house — and turn it clockwise. If it won't move, don't force it; call us. Once the immediate emergency is dealt with, replacing a seized stopcock is a small, quick job that's well worth doing. Can you fix a dripping tap, or do I need a new one? Most drips are a worn washer, ceramic disc or cartridge and can be repaired the same visit. Where the tap body itself is worn or the parts are obsolete — common on older mixers — replacing it is the cheaper answer over time. We'll tell you which you're looking at before we start. Do you do plumbing as well as gas and heating work? Yes. Premier Heating is a Gas Safe registered heating company (No. 212325) that also carries out general domestic plumbing. That's an advantage on any job where the plumbing meets the boiler, the cylinder or the heating pipework — it's all one visit and one guarantee. Do you unblock drains? We clear internal blockages — sink and basin traps, waste pipes, slow-draining showers and baths, and blocked WC pan connectors. Blocked external drains and sewers needing jetting or CCTV survey are a specialist job, and we'll point you to the right contractor rather than pretend otherwise. Is your plumbing work guaranteed? Yes — 12 months on our workmanship, in writing, on top of any manufacturer warranty covering the parts fitted. We also carry £5m public liability insurance and employers' liability cover.
